Reading
The best friend you can give your child is a book. Reading to your child is very important. Parents can help their children become successful readers by talking, listening and reading, to and with their child. A book is a friend for life.

Some hints to get you started.

Read to your child as often as you can.

Encourage your child to choose the books you read together and to tell the story from the pictures.

Enrol your child in a local school library.

Buy books as presents.

Teach your child nursery rhymes and songs.

Let your child hold the book and turn the pages.

Encourage your child to join in and read too.

Select books with repetition so your child can join in e.g "Little Red Riding Hood", "The Three Bears" and "The Three Billy Goats Gruff
